Porters Engineers provide consulting services to the residential market, from working through preliminary civil engineering issues to meet Council approvals to full structural design and documentation including construction phase inspections and final certification.

Construction Phase Supervision

We understand that there is a practical implementation of our designs to be considered. We have a pragmatic approach towards delivering design outcomes for projects that are safe and easily constructed. Some of the elements Porters Engineers can provide inspection comments and reports for include:

  • Pre-pour inspections for concrete and masonry structures
  • Timber Framing tie-downs
  • Bracing
  • General framing checks

We aim to respond in a timely manner to site requests knowing the pressures and tight schedules applied during this phase.

Investigations & Reporting

Where investigations are required into existing building movement, unstable structures, subsidence, excessive deflection or building cracking we can provide investigation and reporting to assess the damage and recommend rectification works.

RPEQ Certifications

Cyclone Yasi showed what extreme climatic conditions we are exposed to in Tropical North Queensland. At Porters Engineers we certify our designs to meet the relevant Authority and Code requirements to fulfil the design brief. The building structure can play a fundamental role in the design of sustainable buildings. As well as providing structural support to the building, the structural system can assist the thermal stability of the building environment. Use of recyclable materials also assists in reducing the carbon footprint.

Structural Analysis

Our designs are tailored to suit the needs of the project, we utilise high-end engineering analysis software such as Spacegass as well as TEDDS software where professional formatted calculations are required.

However, before moving into a detailed design phase we are sure to complete a 'value engineering analysis' to ensure the planned design system and approach fits with the clients brief and approval.
